Over the past 6 months, BOMA has engaged with our membership on this issue through surveys, industry specific information sessions with the City, information sharing through our weekly eNews, as well as discussion within the Government Affairs Committee.

A Waste Tour: EHS Committee Visits BFI Facility

This past February, BOMA Calgary’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) committee members toured the local BFI Canada plant to witness firsthand this organization’s recycling efforts. BFI supplies waste management solutions for the commercial, construction, industrial and residential sectors.

Business Tax: Coming Soon to a Property Tax Bill Near You!

You may recall that a few years ago the City of Calgary considered, and then passed a bylaw that consolidated the Business Tax with the Non-Residential Property Tax. BOMA Calgary opposed the proposal on the grounds that it actually represented a tax increase of over $200 million to commercial real estate in Calgary.
